Michelle + Katie’s Magical, Conroe,Texas Engagement Session

I have known Michelle for almost 8 years now. From our xbox days where we would religiously play halo3 to going to local shows. We have been through it all. One of my best friends. It’s so awesome seeing her now, with her beautiful fiancee Katie, all grown up and just plain happy and in love. She was visiting Houston, Texas and wanted to get engagement photos done and I was SO excited to be apart of such a memorable time in her life. Katie is such a rock and someone so admirable. These two met when Michelle went to the army and really grew their relationship when they were stationed in Africa. What a fricken story! Too bad I suck at story telling because it sounded way more cool and romantic when they told me. 🙂

when I told them to slow dance haha

Wes Anderson Inspired Downtown Elopement

Lily + Davis Vintage Inspired Hill Country Wedding

Goodness, there aren’t any words I can use to describe how special it was to get to document Lily & Davis’ wedding. From the moment these two started talking, it was only a matter of time before they ended up here. And it was the most magical hill country wedding I ever did see. It was offbeat, it was decorated with all the antiques, it was the most intimate. Lily’s mother did an incredible job bringing together all these details. This day was just such a good representation of the people Lily and Davis are.

I’m not good with words. At all. So I asked Lily and Davis a few questions. 🙂

Q: Davis, out of the billions of people in the world, when did you know Lily was who you wanted to spend the rest of your life with?
A: I knew pretty much right off the bat that I wanted to spend my life with Lily. The real big moment for me was when Lily agreed to move out to New York to live with me. That was when I knew that she was in this for the long haul too and that was the moment I knew that I was going to marry her.

Q: Lily, so far what is your favorite thing about being married to Davis?
A: One of my favorite parts is knowing that we are both in this together, through the good and the bad and everything in between. I think since day one we both knew (or at least I knew) that we were going to end up here someday. I don’t second guess anything, and I think that having taken this step and being married makes the relationship that much stronger. Plus being in love with your best friend is just the best thing ever.

Q: Davis, what’s your favorite thing about being married to Lily?
A: It’s impossible to pick any favorite thing about being married to Lily but one thing in particular that means a lot is her deep understanding of me. Lily is an incredibly supportive partner and can read me in an instant and know exactly how to respond. It really blows my mind how in tune we are with each other.

Q: What was yalls favorite memory from your wedding day?
A: Wow the entire day was truly so wonderful, I loved every minute of it. I think my favorite part was the ceremony itself. It was like all the stress and anxiety of planning had just completely vanished. We had made it, and I was so happy. I loved that everyone else had loved the wedding too, and seeing how happy everyone was just made it that much better.

Q: Any tips for people planning their wedding?
A: I think my biggest tip would be to try your hardest to not let the little things stress you out, because shit is going to happen, and you kind of have to accept that. Also, if you’re going to ball out on one thing for your wedding, make sure it’s your photographer.

Personally, my favorite part of the day was the fact that Lily and Davis got ready together. It was such an incredible and such a calm and intimate time they got to spend with one another.
Okay, how incredible is the reception set up?! All the plates and centerpieces were carefully antiqued, succulents and greenery decorated the tables. Lavender sprinkled across the burlap and lace. So. Beautiful.
Fun fact: Lily & Davis are both vegan, so they got a vegan cake for themselves and a few other guests with the same diet and cupcakes for everyone else. So cute. So sweet. And the cake was delicious.
do you have a kleenex box nearby? Davis and his mother danced to “Simple Man” a song his dad used to sing to him. An ode to his father who was a very special man, who passed away a few years ago.
And finally, blankets and s’mores. This was the cutest reception.

I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post. If you can’t get enough of these two, check out their engagement session here.

Marc + Kelly’s intimate wedding at Treehouse Point

venue: Treehouse Point
florist: Fab Floral

I am completely in awe over this day. When my dad and I arrived to photograph this wedding we couldn’t believe our eyes. We don’t really get seasons in Texas so I can’t remember the last time we got to see fall. Kelly and Marc chose a venue that I honestly couldn’t picture a better couple getting married at. They are adventurers and they are lovers, treehouse point was made for them. The wedding was very intimate, only close family and friends, this made it all the more special. It was a very laid back day, full of many happy tears and so much frikken love. It truly was a special day and I am so honored they wanted me to be apart of it.

I went ahead and asked Kelly and Marc some questions,

Q: Kelly, out of the billions of people in the world, how did you know Marc was the one who you wanted to spend the rest of your life with?
A: His patience and his perspective. He’s able to take a step back from each moment, seeks reason in arguments and eternity in our time together.

Q: Marc, out of the billions of people in the world, how did you know Kelly was the one who you wanted to spend the rest of your life with?
A: She’s smart, beautiful, funny, and has a caring personality. It also feels like she knows me better than I know myself. I knew she was the one when the world felt empty when she wasn’t by my side.

Q: What was yalls favorite memory from your wedding?
A: The first look. Words from Kelly, “I was a mess as soon as I saw him standing there, turned around. That’s when it finally hit me that we’re finally committing our lives to each other after 10 years in front of everyone we love. That was a incredible feeling.” Words from Marc, “I was anxiously waiting for her on a narrow path staring at the massive trees. I heard extra footsteps approaching behind me and as instructed, resisted the urge to turn, but I knew it was her immediately when I heard her sob. It was emotional for the both of us, our excitement, and anticipation for the future and the moment.”

Q: Any tips for people planning their wedding?
A: When planning your wedding, find your friend’s and family’s strength and don’t be shy to ask for help and delegate tasks. When wedding day comes, your only job is to enjoy your new souse and the company of the ones you love.

The treehouse Marc and Kelly got to stay in, WOW
How heckin’ amazing are these florals, when I saw them I swear I almost fainted with excitement.

Kelly designed the invitation her self and painted and drew the tree house. How the heck is there so much talent in one person. Constantly in awe with these two.
Their hand written vows that she also water colored. THAT’S A PAW PRINT FROM GILBERT, their dog. How special are all these little details?!

Marc’s mother helping Kelly get ready, I’m currently holding back tears.
Marc got ready in the treehouse by himself before reuniting with all his best mates.
Okay, not only does Marc have fantastic style and looks so darn handsome BUT LOOK AT HIS UNDERSHIRT. Aw heck, my eyes are leaking again.

Are you ready for the most emotional + beautiful first look?!
ve My favorite part. The ceremony.
Kelly looks like a goddess, my goodness.
The reception. Such beautiful details. Marc and Kelly opted out of most of the traditional things and decided to just have a gathering. Where they ate, celebrated, and loved. This whole wedding was just so them. I can’t say enough good things. Gosh.

Point Reyes National Seashore Adventure Session

Wow. I dream about this day often and I’m so so excited to share Corey and Amy’s beautiful adventure session at Point Reyes National Seashore in California. We had a lot to deal with in regards to lighting and the fog. If you ever been to California, that fog, man… It comes whenever it pleases and it covers EVERYTHING. We had to wait it out to be able to capture the beautiful scenery around them. I’ve been to Point Reyes twice now and it never disappoints. It was so fun showing Corey and Amy around.  <3 _ <3 I wish I was better at writing, I’m so sorry for anyone who actually reads these posts.

Jewel Toned, Art Gallery Inspired Downtown Wedding

Savannah and Brett’s jewel toned, art gallery wedding gave me heart eyes the whole day. The details, their family and friends, there was just so much love and so mUCH GOOD STYLE. I knew from the moment Savannah had inquired that this would be one of my favorite weddings and it was.

venue: 5226 elm street
Dessert:  Niko Niko’s
Florals: The Petaler
Hair: Erin from Studio 31 Hair Lab
Rentals: What’s the Occasion
Dress: Brickhouse Bridal

So I suck at writing big time, so I asked Savannah some questions 🙂

Q: When did you know Brett was the one?
A: I knew Brett was My Person pretty early in our relationship, even though we ended up waiting nearly five years before we got married! I suppose it occurred to me somewhat gradually as we faced various hardships. He has always been there for me, unwaveringly. Brett always the person I want to be with and talk to, because not only do I love him, I just like him. But if you’d rather have a specific moment, I’ll be honest and say one night dancing at Numbers is probably when I realized he was my boo. He’s got moves. 😉

Q: What was your favorite memory from your wedding?
A: Favorite wedding memory was not spilling sangria on my white dress! Just kidding. I think it was during our vows. I remember examining his face and thinking “I’ve got to remember every detail of this!”, and seeing him smile and tear up and then I just melted all over the floor. After a quick discussion just now, our collective favorite memory was the recessional, or at least us walking down the aisle leaving the ceremony. We felt very happy and excited, and all of our closest friends and family met us in the back room for hugs.

Q: Any tips for brides currently in the planning process?
A: Get comfortable shoes. I would also recommend an usher. We did not have ushers, as I thought people could seat themselves… but there were people standing at the back of the room during the ceremony with two empty rows of chairs. Additionally, having someone in charge of making sure events stick to the timeline would’ve taken the stress off of me. I did not want to make any more decisions that day, but kept having to answer “when should we start ___?” On that note, definitely try to stay calm! I wasn’t stressed during the time leading up to the wedding, but was feeling it the day-of for that reason. But overall I had a wonderful, happy time!

trendy, Brooklyn engagement session

Documenting Lily and Davis’ engagement was nothing short of whimsical. You know the ‘puzzle piece’ saying? This is it.

I asked Lily when she knew Davis was who she wanted to share her life,

“Honestly I think it was pretty easy to know, like I never really expected to find someone who was everything I wanted and more. I know that nothing is ever as simple or easy as we want it to be, but I think when you find someone who wants the best for you and loves you for who you are, you go “yeah, this is it, this is what I always hoped I would find.” The first time he told me he loved me I cried my eyes out because I really believed him, and i had never really felt that before. I think that was the moment I went “wow, this is fucking real”. We make each other better, and stronger. He’s honest and open and he makes me want to be a better person, and as cliche as that is, it’s true.”
